A roll of dice and I'm on the day-to-day path-
It's one of those mornings where nothing is going right;
I spill my coffee,

The streets are clogged and I think I'm going to be late-
The gentle folk of the city request spare change-
But I deny this to them, explaining

right on past those wispy towers looming high-

The carpeting is gray,
That's all that I looked at today,
I'm pacing in concentric circles,
Biding time, and hoping for a miracle-

Pressures build, and then dissipate,
The hands are dealt and constantly played/
All of the gimmicks and the scams,
All of the dreams and the plans-

I collect the beaten cards of broken games,
When I find them on the sidewalk,
I take them home, I take them home . ..
My kitten plays with them, and I just hope.

Some people don't look at their cards,
Others turn them up one at a time,
Others peek, and just pretend,
And some just fold.

After work at the contemptuous bar,
I massage the nice machine,
Later on when I'm asleep,
The machine massages me . . .
